What we collect
Account details you give us (email or phone number, display name), your stated learning goal and level, and usage data such as how many minutes you practice and your scores over time.
On the free plan, your voice is processed for speech recognition directly on your device — audio never reaches our servers. Only the resulting text of what you said is sent to power your conversation and feedback.
For a paid IELTS Speaking mock, your recorded audio is uploaded to our servers so a more accurate cloud speech engine can transcribe and score it.
What we don't keep
Paid IELTS mock audio is deleted after transcription and scoring are complete. We keep the resulting transcript and your scores, not the recording itself.
How we use your data
To run conversations and generate feedback, to calculate your progress and confidence trends, to enforce free-plan usage limits, and to verify and manage your subscription if you purchase one. We do not sell your personal data.
Where your data lives
Account data, transcripts, and scores are stored with our database provider. API calls to speech and language-model providers used to power conversations and IELTS scoring happen through our backend — your device never talks to those providers directly, and your API keys or credentials are never stored on your device.
Your choices
You can request a copy of your data or ask us to delete your account and associated data at any time by emailing hello@spelora.app.
Children
Spelora is intended for learners aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
As Spelora moves from early access toward launch, this policy will be finalized with our legal counsel and you'll be notified of material changes before they take effect.
